Gridspot Beta Offers a Cheap New Crowdsourced Cloud

Head over to the Gridspot beta site to check out their new cloud service that claims to offer cloud power for as little as "1/10th of a penny per CPU hour."  Perhaps it's a bit late to the game as Amazon and Azure have only made it more difficult for startup cloud services to make headway.  To battle these existing services, Gridspot is offering an interesting alternative to the existing EC2 data-center model: Gridspot is crowdsourced.  According to Gridspot, this helps allow the service to charge 0.1-0.3 cents per core hour, as opposed to Amazon's 2.7 cents per core hour.  Here are a few more details: 

Gridspot is perfect for jobs that:

• Can run in parallel
• Aren't privacy sensitive
• Work with consumer DSL line speeds
• Have total computation > 50k CPU-hour

For example, beating IBM Deep Blue at a game of chess is a job that could fit Gridspot's technology.
